Manufactured biodiesel processors can cost anywhere from $1500 to $7000. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to build your own, small-scale (~40 gallon) biodiesel processor from start to finish using materials that cost less than $700! The first five students who sign up will have the option to bring their materials to build a processor in class (contact us for more details). Or, if you prefer, learn by assisting someone else. You’ll learn how to use and maintain a processor and test out a new processor by making a fresh batch of biodiesel fuel.

Experts from academia and industry will present their latest findings and developments in this ever evolving industry.

The Waste-to-Fuels Conference & Trade Show will provide a forum for informing the public and private sectors of the economic and environmental benefits of converting waste materials to alternative fuels such as biodiesel and ethanol as well as energy recovery. Following this success of the previous edition, which took place in the Netherlands on the 14th of May 2009, we hereby like to introduce the International Biomass Valorisation Congress, which will take place on 20, 21 and 22 April 2010. Prior to this congress Wageningen University will organize, on 20 April 2010, an interactive course with the main focus on Biorefinery.

This interactive symposium will not only address the most current policies and regulations impacting biofuel producers, but will also delve into the more practical issues, such as ways to secure funding, assessing the supply of feedstocks and analyzing the commercial viability of second and third generation biofuels — issues that are expected to affect the industry’s long-term economic standing in Canada and abroad.

Last year’s inaugural conference brought together interests from 15 states and 4 foreign countries to discuss the tremendous opportunity to utilize biomass for res/comm/ind heating, combined heat and power, and district heating in the northeastern US. This year we expect a 50% increase in attendance and vendors. For anyone interested in the role that biomass can play in achieving energy independence, reducing reliance on foreign fossil energy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, revitalizing rural economies, and building a more sustainable energy future for the northeast – this is a MUST ATTEND conference.
